moroni says
In September 1823, Joseph Smith, the
founder of the Mormon Church, was visited by a heavenly messenger, the
Angel Moroni. Moroni told him that God had work for him
to do and that a record of the ancient inhabitants of the American
continent was buried in a nearby hill. Joseph Smith later translated
that text into the Book of Mormon.
